The Humanities Research Fellowship for the Study of the Arab World program invites faculty and research fellows to join its monthly reading seminar as well as weekly writing group sessions.
Reading Seminar | 3:30-5pm in-person (NYUAD campus)
The monthly reading seminar invites HRF fellows and NYUAD faculty to discuss a shared set of readings that relate to 1) the framing, challenges, and affordances of area studies (the conceptualization of “Arab Crossroads” or even “Global Crossroads” Studies, in particular); 2) new research on the Arab Gulf; and 3) new works of broader significance.
This month, the reading seminar will take place over lunch and will include:
February 24 | Beyond Exception: New Interpretations of the Arabian Peninsula (Ahmed Kanna, Amélie Le Renard and Neha Vora)
*All texts are available as e-books through the NYUAD Library.
Writing Group | 2-5pm in-person (NYUAD campus)
The first three Thursdays of every month, weekly writing group sessions will be held from 2-5pm for any fellows or faculty wanting to dedicate three solid hours to writing in a collective space.
Conveners: Erin Pettigrew and Nathalie Peutz
The reading seminar and writing group are open to the NYUAD community and by invitation. Registration has closed.
