Crafting New Narratives – Pitching and Writing for Non-Academic Audiences

The Humanities Research Fellowship for the Study of the Arab World program, in collaboration with the Division of Arts and Humanities, invites you to “Crafting New Narratives – Pitching and Writing for Non-Academic Audiences”, a workshop scheduled for Monday, February 24 as part of our Annual Graduate Student Research Workshop.

Our speaker, Dr. Marya Hannun (Managing Editor of MERIP and Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Exeter), will give a lunchtime talk focused on writing for non-academic audiences. Dr. Hannun will outline the key differences between academic and non-academic writing, share tips on generating ideas, and guide participants on how to pitch them.

In Person (NYUAD Campus)

The workshop is open to the NYUAD community only. Please register below.

Individual Consultations

Dr. Hannun will also be available for individual consultations with faculty and HRF fellows in person on February 24-25 at NYU Abu Dhabi. These sessions are open to NYUAD faculty and researchers working on the MENASA region and will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. Interested participants are encouraged to send an article abstract in advance to nyuad.humanities.fellowships@nyu.edu.

For those without a specific article in mind, this is an opportunity to discuss your individual research and identify elements that could be developed for a non-academic publication.

Consultations with Marya | 30 min - journal abstract optional
