Adab in Hebrew and (Judeo-)Arabic: Poetry, Philology, Theology


The workshop will explore the relationship between medieval literary production by Muslims and Jews in Arabic, Hebrew, and Judeo-Arabic (Arabic written in the Hebrew alphabet). Papers will cover theological, poetic, and popular literary genres, and will examine the ideological, religious, and stylistic assumptions that shaped medieval Arabic and Hebrew literary practice.
